My name is Dan and I'm a documentary filmmaker based in New York City.
I direct a documentary called AND SO I STAYED, which is still in production. I'm also a post doc research scholar at Columbia Journalism School working with the documentary program.
Before that, I was a McClatchy video fellow working at the Centre Daily Times in State College, Pa. I was the lead videographer and helped build and develop the newsroom's video team. Some of my video work was featured on VICE and CNN.
I received my master's from Columbia Journalism School focused on documentary filmmaking. My thesis was a documentary about competitive yoga called POSTURE. I did my bachelor's at San Francisco State University in journalism with a minor in economics.
I also shot and did research for a production company called Public Square Films on a feature-length documentary with Oscar-nominated director David France called THE DEATH AND LIFE OF MARSHA P. JOHNSON about a woman who was a pioneer in the transgender movement until her suspicious death in 1992.
I'm a former MLB sportswriter and covered the San Francisco Giants in 2014 throughout their World Series run for SFBay.
I do a bit of everything with emphasis on shooting, editing and social media. Feel free to contact me through any of the icons listed at the bottom of the page.
